Hi, I’m Alli,
Let me introduce myself. I’m the wife of 14 years to my hard-working hockey-playing hubby. Proud mom to our smart, funny, crazy mini-me as well as our adorable 7-year-old Shi-Poo Rocket, who by all accounts thinks he’s human!
After growing up in the UK my journey working my way around the world as a nanny began ……… It also ended pretty quickly when I came to Canada on a year contract to care for an adorable baby named Jacob. I quickly fell in love, (no not with my husband, that came much, much later while on vacation in Jamaica but I’ll leave that story to another time lol!!) No, I fell in love with Canada, open spaces, endless opportunities and warm friendly people I was “home”.
Work and experience
After a few years of working in the childcare field I decided to go back to school to study Interior design and after graduation worked as a designer and then in sales within the design field for about 10 years.
I had a great job but it could be quite stressful and sometimes took me out of town or had me working late into the night. When I was home I was not really present and constantly felt torn in multiple directions, I felt like I was failing at everything, mom, wife, friend, career and most of all failing myself. After many, many conversations with my husband, we decided I’d “take a break” from the corporate world and focus more on our family.
Over the past few years, I’ve run my own handmade tutu company, worked in direct sales, run pre-school programs and now manage a local pottery studio.
There are times I miss the corporate world, but for all the wrong reasons. I miss the perks, the fancy clothes, corporate lunches and sure the extra money however the time I have had with my daughter and been able to spend with my family is irreplaceable.
So who am I?
I am you. On a daily basis trying to give the best to my family and generally not giving enough to myself. Setting goals to eat better, sleep more, be more organized and often feeling guilty that I don’t meet my own high expectations.
I am you. S
I am also you the mom that looks at the clock at one in the morning and realizes that once again she’s fallen down the rabbit hole we all know as
As I look at the world, I want to make it a better place for myself, my family and those around me. And yes as you have taken the time to read my blog that includes you. Now I’m not talking Mother Teresa or Gandhi better. My idea of better comes more in the shape of making meal times a little less stressful and helping you create an inviting home without spending a fortune. Basically, I’d love to be able to help you get through your day and to be able to say you did oaky.
